We're big believers that great style starts with a point of view, which is exactly why we wanted to talk to Jayde Masters. The Gold Coast-based creative director and stylist has one that's becoming increasingly difficult to come by in the internet era: one that's fresh, instinctive and entirely her own.
When Jess and I started planning our first photoshoot for Charley Alan, we had a very specific vision in mind, and we hunted high and low for a stylist to help us bring it to life.
A friend pointed us in Jayde's direction with a simple note: "She's incredible."
After spending five minutes stalking her Instagram, we decided to reach out. We were emailing ideas back and forth, and when she told us she was going to spray paint a pair of shoes silver for the shoot, we knew we'd found our dream girl. The silver shoes were never really about the shoes. It was about how they summed up her approach to styling perfectly.
If you're looking for a little style inspiration, you're in the right place. We sat down with Jayde to chat about carving out her creative path, trusting her instincts, and the styling rules she's happy to ignore.

How did you kick off your career in styling?
I always knew I'd end up doing something creative. My childhood was basically fashion shows, dressing up my sister and putting on bedroom performances. After high school, I studied styling and eventually moved into freelance styling.
What kind of clients or projects do you work on? Any memorable moments?
Creative campaigns are definitely my thing. I am a creative director and stylist for a womenswear brand and mostly take on campaign styling projects. One of my favourites was styling for Charley Alan. Such a fun, collaborative and creative atmosphere.

What role does physical activity play in feeding your creativity?
A huge one. Movement clears my head and gets me out of overthinking mode. Creativity can be so mental, so having something physical to balance it out keeps me feeling fresh.
How do you style your activewear?
In the gym, I'm pretty low-maintenance. A low pony, little hoops, ruched socks and I'm good to go. My Charley Alan Devon Tank and London Leggings are on high rotation. Outside the gym, I love layering the Devon Tank over a sheer long sleeve or with loose pants and a cap. Easy off-duty vibes.

How would you describe your own personal style?
Honestly, I'm a bit of a fashion chameleon. There's nothing I won't try. Overall I'd say effortless, a little boho, a little chic.
What's your advice for someone trying to find their personal style?
Don't be afraid to wear things differently than intended. Try it backwards, layer it unexpectedly, mix categories. Activewear with everyday pieces is one of my favourites plus no one is going to question it. If you left the house like that, it looks intentional!

What's your current obsession and why?
Baby blue and vibrant red together. It's a soft yet statement colour combo. I'm also back in my lace era.
What's your go-to outfit formula when you want to feel your most confident?
Baggy pants, baggy top. Always. It's comfortable, effortless and still feels cool every single time.
Your post-workout cocktail of choice?
A mojito. No hesitation.
